Designing the Spaceship Midi Backpack with Park Candy
At Fox Flight Customs, we thrive on projects that push us to balance creativity with functionality. When Park Candy approached us to design a new backpack for their collection, they had a clear vision: a multifunctional, travel-ready bag that was lightweight, durable, and comfortable—without sacrificing style. The result was the Spaceship Midi Backpack, one of the most detailed and functional bags we’ve ever produced.
Building Function Into Fashion
Park Candy wanted this bag to stand out in a crowded market. Most mini backpacks look cute but lack practicality—so we designed the Midi Backpack to be the perfect in-between size: more functional than a mini, but still sleeker and more petite than a full-size backpack. We engineered it to be “plus size approved” so it wouldn’t widen the wearer’s back, while still offering plenty of space for storage.
Pockets for Days
One of the biggest design challenges was integrating as much functionality as possible without overwhelming the look. We landed on 10 pockets total: four exterior and six interior. These include:
A large front zipper pocket (big enough for two pairs of ears)
Two deep side pockets for a water bottle or phone
Six organized interior compartments
A hidden back pocket for quick-grab essentials
This level of storage turned the bag into an influencer-approved favorite—capable of fitting outfit changes (even a Selkie dress), cameras, lenses, and more.
Smart Details That Matter
To add even more versatility, we included:
Two exterior D-hooks + one interior D-hook for sanitizers, wallets, and keys
A detachable coin purse with a stretchy hook for small essentials like annual passes
3-inch wide adjustable backpack straps—soft, comfortable, and built for all-day wear
Every feature was designed with the end-user in mind, ensuring the bag was as practical at the parks as it was stylish on the streets.

As with all Fox Flight Customs projects, we didn’t stop at function. The Spaceship Midi Backpack features:
100% cruelty-free vegan leather with a luxe finish
A custom satin-finish inner liner
A protective Park Candy dust bag for safe storage
Measuring 14 inches long by 11 inches wide, the bag strikes the perfect balance of portability and capacity.
